From 2017 to 2019, I explored shapes inspired by indigenous Mayan drawings, the fluidity of fabric, and the artistry of graffiti lettering. Each of my drawings measured approximately 5x6 inches in size.

Created in 2011, each piece is roughly 31.5"x23.5 on heavyweight rives paper. When I created these pieces I was a screen-print teacher at a high school. I experimented with screen printing images my students threw away. In these pieces I wanted to play with negative space more, create more fluid transitions and connections through added painted elements.

In 2018, my goal was to infuse a sense of airiness using colors while subtly incorporating elements from my drawings. Each piece was larger in scale, roughly around 18’ x24’. For this series, I predominantly employed acrylic paint on textured paper, later reassembling them into completed artworks. The images I screen-printed were a fusion of my own drawings and stamps.

Crafted on a smaller scale, roughly 4x5 inches, these artworks were born during my residency at Spudnik Press in Chicago, IL 2020. In a unique approach, I breathed new life into discarded prints, paper, and film that I reshot onto screens from the trash. In this series, I refrained from any additional embellishment using acrylic paint, allowing the pieces to stand on their own.

In 2019, I revisited artwork I had produced. During this process, I used Photoshop to magnify and extract specific details from my previous works, integrating them into various shapes and experimenting with different digital elements.
